5.2(2.4)

5.2(2.4) Describe how to explain own decisions clearly and constructively

Whenever making a decision you should be at least 95% sure you’re making the right one. This will be helpful when it comes to explaining why you made that decision. The more confident you are in the choice you made the more valid and relevant reason you will have when it comes to explaining your choice.

I believe having three reasons is sufficient enough to strongly back up any decision you have made, and for the information to get across clearly to the person you are speaking to. This is another aspect of the essential communication skill.

Being prepared is also vital, if someone asks you to explain a decision you made you need to be able to straight away make valid points, instead of panicking over not having any idea as to what to say, which will furthermore make your decision a weak choice.
For example, if an editor made the decision to choose a specific piece of music for their film trailer, they could make notes along the way as to why they liked it, why does it work with the film or if it shows a dramatic effect and why no other piece of music would work ?

If you have these notes somewhere stored, then if asked as to why you made that decision, you will be able to present valid and relevant reasons, making your decision a strong one.
