1.3(3.2)

1.3(3.2) Discuss strengths and weaknesses in relation to own work and a specific job application

Getting involved in production as a career is something that has gradually taken my interest more and more. Although my knowledge in relation to it may falter, my experience would hopefully give me more strength.

As production is not taught in school, my knowledge has not yet expanded that I know my complete ins and outs of it. Learning on the job is I believe a fairly steep learning curve, which is something I am doing at the moment. I am training to complete tasks for the production team and assist them in their day to day lives, however as I have not yet studied it, it may take me a little longer to ‘wrap my brain’ around details of production work, and how to avoid mistakes.

However, my learning on the job decision may be shown as strength to future employers. I may not have studied production itself, however I will have learnt how be involved in production in an actual work environment. Working from 9-6, conquering everyday unexpected challenges or mistakes that I make and how to figure things out or resolve matters very quickly if need be.

Another weakness is the ability to manage time and tasks in the day to day work life.
Having just left school, I had no idea how the 9-5 life worked, or what was to be expected each day.
When first starting this job, I found it very difficult organizing my tasks in terms of urgency and priority or how long I should really be spending on them, causing me to either have not completed a task by the end of the day or be rushing and make mistakes.

However, through having to overcome this every day, I am having to very quickly learn how to manage my time properly, and try to complete tasks in a certain amount of time or by the end of the day. Furthermore, I am learning how long specific tasks need time and care on without making mistakes or messes.
