1.3(3.1)

HELLO, MY NAME IS LUCY NAGLE
7 SUMMERHILL GROVE, ENFIELD, EN12HY – 07505272573 – lucynagle9@gmail.com

I have recently completed my ‘A’ levels - one of which was Media which I loved - so I have ambitions to work in the Media Industry.  I am taking a year out of education to try to secure as many work experience opportunities within the industry as I can so that I can build on the experience I have to date.

MY EXPERIENCES, WHAT I’VE DONE SO FAR!
IMMEDIATE MEDIA, Events Intern, September 2014 to November 2014
Following a successful work experience placement (see below) I was offered an internship with the events team at Immediate Media.  I worked as part of a small team organising both in-house and external events.  My day to day work involved administration tasks, for example; sorting out guest lists, making phone calls, sending out invites and dealing with purchase orders and invoices.  However, I also took part in meetings with clients, sourced venues, completed risk assessments and negotiated with companies for products for ‘goody bags’.  Much of my work was focused around specific events such as the organisation of the Christmas launch for The Radio Times, The Good Food Show at the Business Design Centre and also at Olympia where I worked on the stand selling subscriptions to the general public.  This placement gave me lots of opportunities to improve my IT skills (particularly Excel), my communication skills as well as my organisational and management skills.  Just before my internship ended I was given my own in-house event to organise – a ‘Halloween’ themed party where I was able to put all the things I had learned into practise.

IMMEDIATE MEDIA, Events staff, July 2014
During my short time at Immediate Media, I helped assist with the preparation and running of a large scale event at Chiswick House in London where I organised guests, manned the information desk and acted as a general runner.  Outside of the event my duties included answering the telephone, sourcing and purchasing various items, preparing orders for delivery, preparing invitations and ID badges for guests.  This work experience helped me to learn about PR, and the communication skills it requires, in turn improving my own.

INDIEFIELD, September 2012 to February 2014
My work at Indiefield involved collecting data (via telephone interviews) for their clients who were mostly car manufacturers.  This was at times a challenging job in terms of the nature of the work but it taught me a lot about communicating effectively and working to a target.

ENFIELD COUNTY SCHOOL, September 2012 to July 2014
I was an active member of the student body.  I helped raise money and awareness for a number of charity organisations including selling cakes and dance performances.  I was made a prefect for the UCAS application process and represented the school in the Jack Petchy ‘Speak Out’ competition.

During my time at Sixth Form, I also created an introduction to a film and a music video for my Media A-level. In a group of three we pitched, created and presented these films successfully.
I have a big passion for media so I enjoyed those projects and was happy to be able to use some creative thinking.

MY EDUCATION, WHAT I’VE LEARNT!
ENFIELD COUNTY SCHOOL:  A2 English Language, Media, Sociology (all Grade C or above)
September 2012 – July 2014

My main area of interest during the sixth form was my Media Studies ‘A’ Level course.  The course involved an academic element, for example, studying stereotypical representations in film and TV, learning about how films are distributed and studying how cinematography is used to create moods and meanings. However, much of the work was practical, i.e. researching music videos and films, scouting locations, making two short films (one a music video) and post production work including editing on I-Movie. Another essential part of the course was maintaining a blog throughout the two years detailing my research about films and a diary of the process involved in the production of the short films.

ENFIELD COUNTY SCHOOL:  GCSE’s in Maths, English Literature, English Language, Art, Science, ICT & Geography (all at grade C or above). September 2010 to September 2012
